UK indie-rockers Bastille have confirmed they will make their return to Australia in June 2014 following an incredible response to their shows at the Metro Theatre in Sydney and the Corner Hotel in Melbourne earlier this year. Both shows sold out in less than 24 hours leaving Australian fans wanting more. Our cries were heard and next year they will be hitting up Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth with bigger venues to satisfy the hoards of fans that missed out this time round.
Bastille’s Bad Blood quickly became the UK’s highest selling debut album of the year after its release in March. The album also reached the top 10 on the Australian ARIA album chart, with stand out single ‘Pompeii’ going 3x platinum. Although they have proven themselves capable of producing flawless storytelling through their own tracks such as ‘Overjoyed’, ‘These Streets’ and ‘Things We Lost In The Fire’; Bastille also manage to defy the system by producing tracks which, in my opinion, surpass the originals! Originally released on their 2012 covers mixtape Other People’s Heartache, ‘Of The Night’ is a brave mash up of 90’s hit ‘Rhythm is a Dancer’ by Snap! and Corona’s ‘The Rhythm of the Night’ and is their latest track to smash airwaves. Although recognizably different to what we’ve learnt to expect from boys, fans seem to be loving the synths and warped effects as it currently sits at #6 on the ARIA singles chart and #2 on the UK singles chart. Check it out below.
Tickets for the 2014 shows go on sale from 9AM local time, Wednesday 4 December. With a track record for sold out shows and an ever-growing Australian fan base, be sure to get your tickets before they’re gone!
