Sahara Beck releases “C’mon Man, You’re Dead”

It’s no secret that we here at Mind The Music are completely supportive of local talent, and that’s certainly no different when it comes to young Brisbane songstress, Sahara Beck.

After releasing her first full length album at only 15 years of age, Sahara continues to prove that age is no barrier. With regular gigs around QLD and airplay on Australian stations such as Triple J, as well as hitting stations in the UK, Germany, and New York, her future is certainly looking bright. Now, at only 17 years of age and after a massive year including festival performances such as Brisbane’s own BIGSOUND Live, Sahara is eagerly awaiting the release of her new EP. Entitled You Could Be Happy, the EP is due for official release on October 31st, or you can jump in fast for one of only 100 specially signed copies here. Not bad for a teenager hailing from the Sunshine Coast!

Sahara’s tone and lyrics manage to convey maturity well beyond her years. At first listen, you’re hit with a soothing acoustic guitar flawlessly embellished with an angelic, innocent, and pure voice. But after delving further into the lyrics and breaking through the folky exterior, you realise just how much honesty and raw emotion has gone into the tracks. With tracks about life, love, and heartbreak, her first album, Volume One, takes you on an emotional journey that many can relate to.

Beck’s most recent release, ‘C’mon Man, You’re Dead’, is a sneak peak at what we can look forward to from the new album. Featuring lyrics like “look at all this trouble you caused here, for the ones you used to hold dear… they don’t know who you are though they ran very far to get away from you” combined with that pulsing bridge and indie beat, the new tracks are sure to live up to the high expectations she’s set for herself.

I think Sahara predicted it herself when she wrote the lyrics to ‘Music Takes Control’, singing:

See that boy up on the stage
I’m gonna be like him one day
Where everybody knows my name
Life won’t ever be the same

…and it’s certainly going to be exciting to see what the next few years has in store for her.
