Brisbane rockers The Bloodpoets are about to release their raucous single ‘Destroy the Sun.’ Disturbing plans for cosmic annihilation aside, this fiery song mixes angry vocals with catchy riffs and ballsy distortion. Lead singer Tom Murphy heralds the apocalypse with Cobain like aggressive apathy. Quirky little guitar effects pop up throughout the verses before launching into pure, drum driven rock for the chorus. Don’t take my word for how good it is, just have a listen:
It’s nice to finally see a band who aren’t ashamed of their pop/rock style. The single is taken from the album The Grand Machine, which promises sustained energy and riffs to dance around to – have a listen to more on Triple J Unearthed and Soundcloud. The Bloodpoets are having a single launch right here in Brisbane at Crowbar this Friday, supported by Army of Champions and Melbournites Magic Bones. This is a one off show so get in there!
