She’s been described at “hypnotising” and “restoring faith in the future of music”. Who else could I be talking about but Lorde. The 16 year old songstress has revealed details of her highly anticipated LP Pure Heroine and an upcoming album tour, following her shotgun appearance at Splendour In The Grass in the place of Frank Ocean. Spendour-goers were lucky enough to hear five new songs off the 10 track album, which will be released in Australia on September 27.
When her debut EP The Love Club was released on the internet it was downloaded over 60,000 times before being made available for sale, an EP that has now reached double platinum status and #2 on the ARIA charts. To top it off, last week ‘Royals’ reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Alternative Songs Chart, making her the first female to do so since 1996 (before she was born). The rising alt-pop superstar has a massive rep outside Australia and New Zealand, selling out shows in LA and New York and making some superstar friends including non other than Wesley Pentz – better known as Diplo.
Lorde will be revisiting Australian shores for a handful of shows, supported by electronic artist Oliver Tank. Tickets are on sale today from $30. Dates are as follows:
Wednesday 16 Oct – The Zoo, Brisbane
Thursday 17 Oct – Metro Theatre, Sydney
Saturday 19 Oct – Zierholz @ UC, Canberra
Monday 21 Oct – The Corner Hotel, Melbourne
