30 Seconds To Mars have released a seven minute epic for their newest single ‘Do Or Die.’ I like it when artists try and do something a bit different with their clips, whether utilising interactivity like Kanye and Moones, or giving power to the people like Maroon 5’s ‘Daylight’. That’s essentially what TSTM have done, giving their fan base (known as The Echelon) the chance to feature a bit of their story during the video clip. Singer Jared Leto describes ‘Do or Die’ as a “companion piece” to ‘Closer to the Edge’, with filming taking place during the band’s summer activities.
There was originally some controversy over the video’s production, because it required fans to show a tattoo of the band’s lyrics on themselves, in order to feature in the clip. One would at least hope that members of the Echelon were smart enough to go to a professional tattooist. 30 Seconds To Mars are playing at the Riverstage in Brisbane on March 30, 2014. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.
