The Arachnids’ new single ‘Daydreaming’ is an eclectic mix of the Brissy band’s trademark groove rock sound that will have your hips swaying and head bopping. Thick with driving beats and catchy riffs, ‘Daydreaming’ is reminiscent of INXS, Presidents of the United States and Regurgitator.
Breakups are tough but the Brisbane four-piece have shown what can come of such a traumatic experience; write an upbeat, rocking tune to let the world know, “I’ll be happy without you. I’m not happy with you.” A message of positivity that whatever bullshit happens in your life, you can always break free to live your own dream.
The music video is an apt enactment of the song, with a man going into a daydream after being hit in the head with a shoe during an argument with his girlfriend. In his dream the world becomes a brighter place as he pulls some pretty stupid dance moves in various destinations across Brisbane. It also sees the band members playing several different roles, including Sam Oliver dressing as a girl. All in all I had a pretty good laught watching it.
The Arachnids’ live show is equally impressive, full of energy and frivolity. May 2013 sees the band embark on the “DaydreamingTour Part Deux”, hitting the capitals of the East Coast.
