Future Music "Day of the Dead-Set Awesome" Lineup Announced

The 2013 Future Music Festival lineup has been released as of Wednesday, October 11 and I must say, it’s pretty impressive. Since inception Future Music has traversed from a primarily electronic/dance music based festival to an ‘all sorts’ one might say. Trance, techno, dubstep, house, electro and some of the biggest live headliners in the game will be spread across two mainstages and a host of curated arenas. The “Day of the dead-set awesome” theme sounds fun, no doubt there’ll be a gothic Mexican influence, I just hope they bring along some burritos too.

My past experiences of Future have been generally pretty good, there’s always a decent amount of facilities and a solid lineup and this year they’ve pulled out all the stops, topping 2012s impressive lineup. So who’s on the bill?

The Prodigy are without doubt a dead-set awesome headliner (see what I did there?), there’s not many who can top them. The British dance music veterans are bringing their ‘Warrior Dance Arena’ show to Australia and with it an illustrious company of their own. Boys Noize, Feed Me, Kill The Noise, Zeds Dead and Borgore will be joining the ‘untouchable’ headliners over the festival tour to bring punters “hard-edged and heavy bass-driven music” that is sure to ignite the crowds as one of the biggest sets Future Music Festival has ever seen.

Of course we can’t forget The Stone Roses, who’s live show made a return in front of 240,000 fans in Manchester this year. Dizzee Rascal, Bloc Party and Azaelia Banks will also be representing the live front in impressive style. Let’s just hope that Azaelia plays for longer than 20 minutes this time, unlike her appearance at Splendor In The Grass which left festival goers bitterly disappointed. Of course, we can’t forget special guest PSY – the K-Pop superstar who made his track ‘Gangnam Style’ more popular than Justin Bieber (on YouTube at least). Not sure how I feel about this one but no doubt the crowd will still be going wild, jumping around pretending like their riding a horse. Correct me if I’m wrong but that’s what I think the trademark dance move looks like.

After seeing A-Track at Bestival in 2011, I will definitely be catching his set again. Im also looking forward to Madeon who I can only image will be awesome, and Rudimental. Though most people only know ‘Feel The Love’ I’m hoping the UK producer steps up to the plate. Ellie Goulding and her angelic voice will also be making an appearance, as well as The Temper Trap and Gypsy & The Cat adding to the live element.

Sorry Bombs Away, the Stafford Brothers, Timmy Trumpet and FUN… I’ll be giving you a miss.
